BASED ON COMPLETED CE GAME Not since Dying For Daylight has there been such an excellent vampire game, and this is totally different in every way except one ? it is designed to entertain. This game is an account of the true life events surrounding the first official report of vampirism in Eastern Europe. You get to play a court appointed investigator ? and there actually was one sent at the time of the incidents. Very weird feeling of realism, and a great way to immerse yourself in the mysteries of the past. Everything about this game is easy. The PUZZLES are fairly FAMILIAR, and not too difficult even for me. But they are put together in an imaginative fashion. Likewise, the HO SCENES are not difficult, they are the INTERACTIVE LISTS we see most often. Objects were not difficult to find and hint was quick. The GRAPHICS are a bit GRAINY, but toggling ASPECT RATIO fixed that. HINT was HELPFUL outside HOS, and SKIP was quick. You get a JOURNAL with NOTES & OBJECTIVES and a INTERACTIVE MAP. All of which would probably drive our expert fishies nuts. It is the ATMOSPHERE & STORY that set this game apart. A great deal of effort has gone into presenting a tale of historic significance in a way that keeps you wanting more. You have a M. Dupin (Dark Tales) ? like PARTNER, who communicates with both us and the characters in the BEST VOICE ACTING I?ve ever heard. I had a thoroughly delightful time with this one. A unique gaming experience. I must admit that part of my enjoyment came after the game, when I had access to the BONUS CONTENT of the CE, in which there are interviews with experts and photos of modern Kisilova. There are in town still members of the family whose ancestor was accused of being a vampire. Wow, try to live that one down! But I don?t think this game loses any of its appeal by being a SE. It is first class game, and I hope we see more like it.
PROS: - Skillfully told story of investigating the sudden and gruesome deaths in Kisilova, Serbia in 1725. - Realistic sound effects. Very nice natural-sounding voice overs. - Journal listing objectives, notes and map which tags locations with objectives. - Gorgeous graphics - Regular and expert modes; aspect correction; 4 sound volumes. - Plenty to do; hint system is very helpful. - True delight to play. CONS: - Can?t think of any. Very polished production. CE/SE DIFFERENCES: If you?re debating between the SE and CE, the CE?s extras include the bonus chapter, interviews, pictures of Kisilova, 14 music tracks, and concept art (sketches of places, draft and final and interim sketch of characters).
One of the things to keeps me invested in a game is the storyline. This one is great. It keep my interest. For those who don't want to stay with the story, you can skip the dialogue and keep playing. Hits fill up quickly but you will not really need them other than to guide you to the next step. The hidden object scenes each have some interaction. The objects seem to reflect the storyline and the time period. Neither the hidden object scenes nor the mini-games are difficult. But they do relate to the story. While the game might not be challenging for some, it a good game. to play. I played the entire demo and was into the game when it ended about 3/4 of the way through chapter 2. I believe this game will give you a few hours of play time. I'm off the purchase so that I can see how the story ends.
I really enjoyed this game. Great evolving story, characters with voice acting, nice graphics and sound effects. It was a bit on the easy side though. A lot of the puzzles were variations of what we've seen before. I liked the interactive hidden object scenes - they were nicely done. I will definitely look for a sequel, and other games from this dev. team! We need more games like this one!
This was a recommend pick for me and it was great I will compare it to 13 skulls uses the brain
This game was spooky yet fun with all kinds of neat charactors that you meet up with. Following a "hooded figure" through the woods and finding out it was the one person you would never have expected...to be a vampire!! Awesome Game!
this is a fun game. hint/skip charge really fast!!!!! there is a diary. i played casual and very low sound. graphics were great!! you are helping to investigate a mysterious illness (or something) that is killing the people of this location. it had happened in the past and then stopped and now it is happening again. is there going to be a sequel.......i think so.
Review based on completed game in casual mode. Animation/VOS - Excellent!!! The way a game should be done. Read and heed, devs!! :-D Lip sync was perfect. Characters were beautifully and realistically drawn. Vo for player. IHOS - More than puzzles/mini-games. Lists, find X # of same item but not too many of these that I can remember. Fairly clear scenes but objects were small. Misclick Penalty - None Hint - Fast charge. Gives clues and directions. The hint is a total babe. :-D Inventory - Does not lock in place. Objects used quickly in other areas. Journal - Never did go into it while playing. Map - Didn't go into it so I don't know if it did transport or even if there was one. Puzzles/Mini-Games - Unique and challenging. Solved as few. Moderate skip charge. Wish all games were designed in this manner. Of course it was my favorite storyline. :-) I say throw the net in the pond and and bring this one in. You won't be disappointed. Happy gaming!!!
This is a great game.Loved it.
The first cases of documented vampirism were in a small village of Kisilova and you have been ordered to go there and investigate over 9 deaths in one week. You haven't even made it across the river yet and already sabotage is showing it's ugly hand. Someone is cutting ropes to your ferry and chopping down trees to block your path, but why? The graphics are good and the voiceovers are good and you have the option of turning off the voiceovers in options setting. There are only two options of difficulty but the game itself isn't that hard to figure out and has a good hint system. The HOS are slightly interactive, click on a curtain and the curtain draws back to expose something. There is one feature that is different, several items in the game scenes are interactive, pictures move and clank when you run your cursor over them, dogs wag their tails, owls hoot, frogs jump etc. The mini games aren't hard and can be skipped in either mode, the usual repeat the pattern of arrows that light up in order or fixing pipes to connect one end to the other. Not a bad game, entertaining with a good (and true) storyline. Enjoy!
