If you like spooky, dark and long games..this ones for you! I loved every minutes of it! Remedied me of Redrum and The Haunted Halls series, I loved them and this one is even better! The most important thing I wanted to leave a review about is the Bonus Chapter. I wish more people would so I know to buy CE or SE as I usually wait for the CE sales and buy a bunch then, unless its a series I have to have the day it comes out. HO Scenes have some interactive items, Junkpile ish, but fits in with the area you click on and the era. Mini-Games have a lot of unique ones, a few common one, some are quite challenging, especially in the bonus game. (There is a repeat sequence in bonus game, I hate them but unlike most random answers, this one solves in in the SG! Thank you!!) You will def need the SG to get all the achievements badges IMO. I consider myself an expert and used it about 8 times. For me the game took almost 7 hours total according to the score list. However I played it over 2 days, thats just my style.I take smoke/food/medicine breaks. I read everything, try for all the badges and stop to enjoy all the scenes along the way. This is my first game to play with NO hints or skips and it was a perfect one to make that challenge to myself! No doubt this game was sooooooo worth the CE cost..I even had the SE from a sale.. took a chance with the latest BOGO sale and I'm glad I did! The achievements made for a great challenge, one is to get the highest score so that offers a replay factor (you can replay the Mini-Games too to get faster at them for the high score badge) and with 20 postcards to find to as well it all made the game waaay longer than the SE!. There is a ending if you buy the SE.. BUT it doesn't leave you with any storyline for the sequel like in the Bonus Chapter. I would have missed out on that for sure. If there is a to be continued ending, I want to see how one flows into the next game and not miss a thing storywise. Also for me the Bonus Chapter was v
I really enjoyed this game. It is creepy, but so much fun. The graphics, cut scenes and sound are great. The mini games and HOS are fun. You also have to look for post cards. i didn't find all of them, but it was fun to look for them. There are several buildings and areas to search, which is nice. The strategy guide is not integrated, which was a bit annoying; however, I didn't have to use it until I got to the bonus chapter. The bonus chapter was okay, there were a couple of fun mini games and the ending was great. My only gripe about the bonus chapter was the staggeringly high number of HOS's (and I usually like HOS's). Even with that gripe, I still recommend this game and am looking forward to playing the sequel.
I judge the quality of the games I play by how well I get 'sucked in' to the story. This was one of the games I found very immersive. The story was different than the usual, the graphics and sound effects were spooky and the line of reasoning was fairly clear to follow. The H/O scenes were good; some were 'busy', but not impossible. I would recommend this to adults only. I found it to be a great game!
This has to be one of my all time favorite games on Big Fish! I loved the game overall. The attention to detail in this game really paid off and made me appreciate it even more. The visuals were simple yet impressive, the artwork was beautiful and creative and the sounds were down right creepy! A perfect combination for a real winner. As you play you'll feel like your in the world of the X-men, only during the world war I or II era. But the storyline is original. No fancy twists in the plot but its enough to keep you hooked. One of the features that i really like in the game was a special HOG scene that i havent seen in any other series. In this particular scene you have to match items in your inventory to associated items on the screen (ex. if you have a match in your inventory, look for a lamp or cigarettes on the screen). Another thing that sets this game apart from other titles is the attention to detail. Clicking on certain objects can make a certain sound and scare you in your seat, clicking on portraits and paintings can give you a little surprise too. I like that little addition, it makes the game more enjoyable. Challenges and puzzles are fairly straightforward and easy to solve but still maintains a decent level of fun. HOG scenes and well done, objects are well hidden but not impossible to find on your own. You wont have to use the "hint" button or a walkthrough to get you though this game. Its very doable. My only criticism is that it felt a bit short. The collectors edition is definitely worth it as it gives you additional game play where you are accidentally teleported to the island on the lake. In the game, you journal has tabs for keeping track of the story and clues and also a tab for a specific list of objectives that you need to accomplish. This feature was very helpful to me. On the same corner theres a "Top Secret" folder section where you collect files from different locations that gives you a small video clip of the story and character deve
It's a bit ominous to begin with, but really an excellent game once you get into it. Good length, some good puzzles, H0G scenes with a twist, artwork suits the theme, some clever animations. The bonus chapter adds to the game and is very long.
This is one of my favorites to date. Pros: 1. The storyline was different. It's set in a military hospital, and 'experiments gone wrong' on military personnel have created monsters that you have to track down. 2. Great graphics. 3. Widescreen option - yay! 4. Varying levels of difficulty in puzzle games. Skip option. Cons: 1. An awful lot of 'junkpile' hidden object games. Some of them have 2-part items, where you have to uncover one item to get the one you need or put two pieces together #personally, I like these, so for me that part is more of a pro#.
The anomalies are a good game series. The HOS do need a good eye but you can find most of the items. The puzzles are fun and most are not hard to do. The graphics are music are good. I like voice over and this one has it in most areas. You do not need to run all over the place to find clues. I feel the pace is good but predictable. Not a hard game to me.
I can hardly wait to buy this game. The graphics and story line are all very good. It kept my interest had plenty to do. It is almost a perfect game. My only draw back with the game is the hint button showed me what to do in a room I already knew what to do but had not found the tool yet in which to comply. I was stuck and wanted to know where to go next. It took a few attempts of a lot of back and forth to figure out how to use what I already had. This game is going to be difficult to get through without a descent hint button.
This game was quite creepy & fun at the same time! The story line kept you wanting to continue to see what happens next. The graphics and sound were exceptional. There were many hidden object scenes and some are interactive. That's always a fun plus to games. There are quite a few mini games too. Some were a bit challenging and really made you think. That's a good thing in an adventure game! There are achievements to acquire. Be on the look out for postcards to collect. There are 20, we only found 19, so we missed one achievement. We finished the main game in 3 hours & 45 minutes. We didn't finish all at one time, but the game keeps track of how long you play. The bonus chapter was excellent and added over an hour of play to the game. We think this was worth the collector edition price and are glad we purchased. We did not use the strategy guide, so we cannot comment on how useful it was. There is now a sequel out for this game and that's next on our list to try.
Just two words, LOVE IT! I played this one when it first out and never give a review. So I'm just say really enjoy this game from beginning 'til the end. Thanks dev and good job!
