Enjoyable game. Lots of HO and a good flow to the game. The HO will keep you looking hard but you do have a hint button if needed.
I keep waiting for more Penny Dreadful games, because this one is so very good, The HOS segments are creepy but you can identify the objects and you don't need a magnifying glass. The story is classic, but the inspector (horrid little man) leads you through the story from a quite different angle. There is a map, which is a great assist in helping you through the story. The locations are all rich and complex and really are part of the story. The mini-games are challenging and in the CE at least, you can practice them, which is fun to do. The game is complicated and straightforward at the same time, which I find very interesting. I play this game over and over, and I try to improve my skill level, which the game measures. The only con: I have to turn all the sound off in the final mini-game because I can't tolerate the voices. I usually skip through the music, too, though it was great to hear the first time through the game.
I enjoyed this one very much...Creepy, challenging, great graphics and sounds. I could of played this game forever I'm guessing because I was disappointed when it was already over and of course because I was so into it, hehe. But of course when I say Johnny Depp Flashback, it's not the movie all the same, but it was fun. Thank you Big Fish, Perry:)
This was an awesome game. Beautiful graphics, and creepy atmosphere. The music was beautiful. Puzzles and hidden object scenes were a lot of fun.
Not a single thing about this game I didn't love, Long play time, great HO's, great visuals, great music. flowed well. Loved this game. Well, the one thing I don't love is that, as of yet, there is no sequal.
I love the story of Sweeney Todd, and it translated into a great game. Good graphics, perfect level of challenge, intriguing story. Definitely a recommended game!
This was a simply great game and the amosphere and music brought memories of the show and the film floading back. I wish now I had spent out on the CE. I loved the voice overs and the little comments made by the Iinspector " I just fancy some fish and chips" etc. and his comments when one tries something not logical. Well Done. graphics superb. Loved the map lay out so one could jump to and from locations and best of all a tick when there is nothing left to do. My only criticism was there were no puzzles instructions. Working out how to do the puzzles was almost more taxing than completing the puzzles. Lovely Lovely game waiting for the next game. I hope Big Fish when announcing their next game will be referring to Sweeney Todd. Then I will not miss it
Even if you've never seen or read Sweeney Todd... from the original 1920's movie based on the original play or one of the more recent versions, you'll undoubtedly appreciate the the game play value in being in the detective role in this surprisingly good game spin-off (if you can take the gruesomeness with a grain of salt, so to speak, haha#. Anyhoo, as the story goes, the barber #Sweeney Todd# and the charming baker #some say a true tale) shared a common feature in their respective shop cellars... a passageway and a hankering for a relationship with each other. The two collaberate whereas the barber robs unsuspecting rich fellows coming in from the ships from the harbor and the baker 'disposes' of the poor deceased patrons by making meat pies for her shop. Win-win... well, more like win-win-lose taking into account the unfortunate dearly departed who get more than just a shave. So, I thought the graphics were excellent in this game... true to the time period and the SFX/music and characters, everything... all really good from beginning to end. Definite replay value as well. Cheerio!
Penny Dreadfuls: Sweeny Todd Game is based on (in my opinion) the horrible play (Sweeny Todd) but it?s a good game! I did skip over the actual Singing parts in the cut scenes, once was enough! The scenes are pretty clear and interesting! The locations are graphically very nice, and you don?t travel and walk endlessly. It has a transporter map with pictures of where you are and places to go! As you are finishing tasks the places on the map turn black and white (closed) letting you know there is nothing left to do there! All come back in the next chapter. It has the funniest British narrator that insults you constantly, it was my favorite part of it all. I told him to zip it so many times and really did laugh out loud at him! He?s what makes you want to play onward! He gets bored when you take to long and hums! Or tells you to move along. If you use an inventory item in the wrong place he says things like (And you really passed P.I. School? Or While many crimes are happening all over London you tried that again) and so on!! It's dark in more ways than one, some HOS objects are hard to find! And some scenes are just gross, keeping with the play that spawned the game very well! Slow hint re-fill, and I found I needed it quite a bit during the HOS. My favorite part even though it?s a good game is still the snaky voice from the narrator. Without sound I don?t know if I would have enjoyed it! He does such a good job you find yourself wanting to please this cranky faceless voice and finish the game! When you do something right he does say a quick ?Good Job? or ?Well Done? but his sarcastic remarks are plentiful and caused me to not be able to stop playing! This a short review because I forget fast what all is in a game and did not take notes while playing. I can say it?s a good length and I thoroughly enjoyed it! So?
This was one of my favorite games so far. The graphics, music, story, and puzzles were all far superior to some of the other games I've tried. I really enjoyed this one (despite the "operatic" interludes) on all levels. I will definitely be checking out other Play Pond games to see if they are of the same caliber, as well as other Penny Dreadfuls. Great fun, well done!
