Help the inspector to investigate missing of a young sailor, find out what happened and who is behind it ! 2 modes of play: easy with no miss-click penalty in HOS, fast hint recharge, sparkle indicators; hard with penalties, fewer helpful sparkles, slower hint recharge. Storyline is fantastic, if you are familiar with the original Sweeny Todd you will know what to expect. A great mystery with elements of horror and of course beautiful music! Graphics are really good, I loved the whole look of London, perfect rainy atmosphere and detailed locations. Map is very helpful, it allows you to travel through many different locations in London. You have a list of evidence for each chapter. Speaking of hidden object scenes, well I must say, I was a bit disappointed. Way too many of them, and also most of HOS were like a junkpile so I wasn?t able to spot objects so easy. Puzzles on the other side were fun, mostly easy but entertaining. Despite the problem I had with HOS I enjoyed a lot playing this one! I recommend it!
Enjoyable game. Lots of HO and a good flow to the game. The HO will keep you looking hard but you do have a hint button if needed.
This is a great game. In fact, I like it so much, I will probably play it over again, which I rarely do, as there are so many other games to play instead of replaying one. The storyline was awesome. The cut scenes were sung and felt like you were watching a stage play of the story. They were mesmerizing. The voice overs were also fantastic and fit each character perfectly. I never play with music, so can't tell you about that part. I played the advanced mode and it was pretty challenging. I found myself using hints a lot, usually for just one or two hard items in the HOS or to open the Strategy Game. I also used the built in strategy guide for some of the games. In the advanced mode, you get a grade after each chapter. This straight-A student was surprised when I earned C's and B's for my work. A B got you the title of Sleuth, a C the title of Flatfoot. These grades are based on several factors, like how fast you played, how many bad clicks you made in the HOS, how well you did on the mini games, etc. My overall rating on the end of the game was a C, which was hard for me to take. I might play this game over to try to get my score up. The game had a map that you could use to move from place to place and it also showed when you had completed a location. This was very helpful. In the advanced mode, the skip button for the games charged very, very slowly, as did the hint button. Although the Strategy Guide was built into the game, it was not like any other Guide I have ever seen. You had to use one of you hints to access, which made you have to wait for the hint to recharge. Using a hint allowed you to unlock a portion of the Guide, but what was available to unlock was not necessarily the area you were actually working on. So, you had to use more hints to get to the area of the guide you needed. In essence, you had to use hints to unlock the whole book, whether you needed help in all areas or not. Another unique part of the game. I loved this game and wish there were more games i
This game is for expert HOG players! I only had one HOG that I finished without using the hint button. The puzzles were equally difficult!! One really nice thing about this collectors edition is that you can replay the puzzles and HOGs to better your time. The hint button took about 45 seconds to recharge but was worth the wait. when I got stuck.
Enjoyed this game. The artwork was good, and I enjoyed the macabre settings.
What can i say? SUPER SUPER SUPERB!!!!! I have not gone out of my mind, i have bought a cartload of games from Big Fish, but this is and will be ( if BF will not surprise me in the future) my everlasting favorite! All know the story but here it has been displayed in a superb rendering of graphics and screenplay. TRY IT, LOVE IT.
I'm usually very critic with the games i play, but this one has no flaws. PROs: Graphics, soundtrack (ambient sounds), game-play flow, everything is just perfect. CONs: Oh my god, please no more singing!!!!
I have played this game many times and each time I fall more in love with it. I am totally amused by the humor. Simply said the art work for this game is superb. This game offers many hidden object scenes and I might add the objects are well placed, the player is challenged. I think this game is excellent for a new player of hidden object games as well as for those experts that wish only to be entertained. P.S. I do long for a new Penny Dreadful.
This is based on the demo, but I'm saving up for this one until I can afford it. Imagine "The Perils of Pauline" combined with "Monty Python" and you've got the gist. This game is well worth the money, because you'll want to play it again.
I was never a favorite of HOGs, but Penny Dreadfuls set itself a part from others. The puzzles were intriguing, and of course the story plot was good and well translated from the original into a very good game. I found the quality of this game to be up there amongst some of the greats like Drawn and Midnight Mysteries. The graphics, story line, puzzles and overall feeling were created perfectly. Thanks BFG for bringing another great game to us for an even greater price.
